When storms unleash their fury, trees usually bear most of the damage. In order to help trees survive harsh weather and potentially reduce property damage, we recommend that some trees be cabled and/or braced. Often, a tree can be kept that would otherwise pose a hazard to buildings and people. We are happy to say that we have helped many a homeowner to keep their beautiful trees by applying our extensive experience with cabling and bracing.

Cabling

Cabling is the installation of flexible steel strands or special shock-absorbing rope (above) in trees to reduce stress related damage caused by high winds, heavy snow, ice, and heavy fruit or foliage. Cabling transfers weight from a weak branch to a stronger one. This prevents broken limbs.

Bracing

Even if pruned regularly, large limbs can sometimes

split at an area where they join the main trunk (see examples above). Bracing uses threaded rods to secure the split and hold it in place so the bark can grow and reinforce the damaged area.
